



ITA places students in a grade based on their age and Tamil skill. To assess the student's Tamil skill, ITA gives an age appropriate evaluation test. To take an evaluation test for a grade the student is expected to have mastered the language skill for the previous grade.

Basic - 1(Age 5+)
Actions (walk, run, read, write, listen, etc), Pronouns (I. you, he, she, it, we, they), Common words used at home (plate, food, brush, bath,etc), taste (sweet, spicy, sour, salty, etc), Days of the week, Months, numbers, body parts. Recite short rhymes Ability to narrate short stories, answer simple questions
Basic - 2(Age 6 +)
Grade - 1(Age 7+)
Taste (sweet, spicy, sour, salty, etc), seasons, colors, vegetables, fruits, farm animals, wild animals, sounds of animals and birds, pronouns and directions. Topics on family, school, friendship, health, sun and rain. Narrate incidents and stories, talk,about an animal/bird/festival. Answer to simple oral questions
Grade - 2(Age 8+)
Discuss about different places and situations in Tamil. Follow instructions in Tamil. Conversational topics on savings, market, park, mother’s y etc. Create their own book on animals (based on the type of food they eat, farm animals, wild animals, pet birds and wild birds).
